Employee Relations Specialist

Overview

The Employee Relations Specialist will play a key role in maintaining a harmonious and productive work environment. This position will focus on policy implementation, accountability, compliance, employee engagement and conflict resolution, working closely with the HR Business Partners and leaders to ensure consistent and effective employee relations practices across the organization.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works with leaders, managers and employees to provide advice and to coach both parties on employee relations matters. Provides strong partnership with leaders, managers, and employees supporting performance management, disciplinary processes, restructuring activity, legal issues, investigations, and conflict management.Conducts thorough investigations into employee complaints, allegations of misconduct, and violations of company policies. Documents findings and provides recommendations for resolution. Ensures employee relations practices are compliant with federal, state, and local labor laws.Mediates and assists in resolving employee disputes and conflicts in a consistent manner. Helps to ensure a fair and consistent approach to A-dec's policies and procedures promoting a positive culture within the business, while minimizing risks.Acts as a liaison between employees and management to ensure clear and open lines of communication, while supporting HR Business Partners in addressing communication needs within their business units.Recommends, updates, interprets, and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures while maintaining alignment with labor laws and regulations.Works with leaders and HR Business Partners to ensure policies are effectively communicated and implemented across all business units.Tracks and analyzes data related to employee relations issues. Collaborates with leaders and HR Business Partners to identify trends and recommends proactive solutions, initiatives and strategies.Partners with HR Business Partners to gather feedback and implement strategies to improve employee morale and productivity.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal and external HR principles, concepts, practices and standards.Demonstrated knowledge of employee relations procedures and processes.Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state and local labor laws.Experience supporting employees at various levels of the organization who work in a variety of roles that could be onsite, hybrid or in a remote capacity.Able to objectively coach employees and managers through complex and difficult issues.Able to interact effectively and establish working relationships with employees across the organization.Possess a high level of integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality while managing sensitive information and discretion.Demonstrated solid judgment and experience assessing risk relative to the business.Effective communication and critical thinking skills, and ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Human Resources, or a related field.2+ years of experience in employee relations or Human Resources.SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
