Atlas Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries is looking for an End Welder at our plant in Plymouth, MI. This position reports to the production supervisor and plant manager. The End Welder is responsible for welding steel coil ends together to keep the accumulator full to run the mill continuously.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow workplace safety practices set forth by Atlas Tube Inc. Policy Follow verbal and written instructions Operate controls for leveler/butt welderSet up butt welder for each gauge of material; weld coil ends togetherIdentify butt welds, gauge changes, and coil numbers with paintKeep accumulator loaded with sufficient steel supply to run mill continuouslyFill out all operating reports and quality reports as requiredEmpty all scrap bucketsAssist in mill changeovers Report any irregularities or malfunctions to managers and/or maintenance Assist maintenance in making repairsAssist other operators when required during breakdowns, bottlenecks, and scheduled downtimeMaintain a clean and safe work areaOther duties as assignedPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GEDBasic Computer KnowledgeWelding Experience Hi-Lo License/Crane License PreferredRegular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this roleLead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy
