Southwire Job Description

This individual will be an actively engaged member of the Operational Sustainability Team supporting the Culture of Zero. The Lead Specialist, Energy will be a critical team member to help drive planning, execution, engagement, and evaluation of the overall sustainability program and associated projects at our sites. As a key member of the Operational Sustainability team, this individual will help deliver Southwire's ambitious goals to reduce energy, water, and waste from our operations and ensure the success of Southwire’s Five Sustainability tenets across several manufacturing and customer service centers (On-Site, Campus Role).

Key Responsibilities

 Sustainability Audits & Recommendations – Perform sustainability audits and support deep dive assessments with third-party consultants. Provide recommendations and identify opportunities for the sites.  Data Analysis – Support sites with data analysis to provide key impact decision information for the leadership team. Adhere to the Southwire DHP to effectively communicate the information to the appropriate team members. Program Delivery & Support – Help your assigned sites with the size of the prize estimates, sustainability workshops, kaizen events such as kanban walks, project execution including Sustainability Playbook activities, project costing, and roadmap delivery.  Cost Management – Understand the costs and savings associated with the delivery of the roadmap. Work with the site team members to provide adequate information to build the CAPEX & OPEX requirements. Capability Building – Help build capability at the sites by utilizing existing training materials from the Southwire learning management system. Effectively deliver materials by creating customized sessions and new content tailored for various team members. Collaborate with the local training team to manage the learning objectives and ensure appropriate learning metrics are being measured. Collaboration & Engagement – Change management and cultural adaptation is a key deliverables of the sustainability program and this role. Establish successful relationships with the sites by creating value and connecting with team members to formalize a sustainable culture. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the dynamics between competing objectives. Monitor & Reporting - Ensure data is being monitored and reported as required. Leverage existing and new metering to provide key information for the site leadership team. Create reports to provide effective & timely material to x-functional decision makers. Benchmarking & Best Practices – Leverage other energy managers and sustainability practitioners within and outside of Southwire to benchmark similar assets, processes & equipment. Create and share best practices in support of the Sustainability Playbook and Standardization.   Innovation – While Southwire strives to standardize, every site can be unique with its own equipment and processes. With the support from the Operational Sustainability Team, provide innovative opportunities for the site through research and understanding, in support of the overall Culture of Zero program.  EHS - Promote health and safety in all aspects of the work.  Include environmental considerations in the decision-making process.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental, Science or related field required  14 years of experience in engineering, environmental, science or related field (This is a Level 4 Position so this many years is a must) Up to 50% travel required  Competencies Action OrientedBalances StakeholdersCollaboratesCustomer FocusNimble LearningPlans and Aligns
