Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. **Responsibilities**
The role is an individual contributor role that plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of new datacenter capacity by validating critical equipment and system design compliance for reliability and resiliency prior to handover to the operations. This role involves overseeing the startup requirements per the design functional test requirements for mechanical/controls infrastructure system, and the LEED certification program. The role requires working closely with site teams and contractors to identify, troubleshoot, and remediate issues to deliver a high performing datacenter to the operations team. The MEC Engineer reports to Campus Construction Manager and supports The Mechanical Engineering representative is responsible for monitoring progress for compliance with construction documents throughout the construction lifecycle. They will provide onsite technical direction, decision-making, support Microsoft in the multi-discipline coordination, issue identification and resolution, continuous improvement efforts, and document project learnings for incorporation into future designs.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Perform regular site walks and site inspections to observe progress, review construction vs. design intent, review all benchmarking to ensure standard and quality are met, and flag potential concerns for engineering review
+ Act in coordination with the Engineering team as a subject matter expert in all energy isolation incident investigations in area of responsibility
+ Review construction drawings, specifications, design guides/standards, sequences of operation, and commissioning documents for technical compliance
+ Manage DRB process timely including any field changes post IFC. Review and evaluate the impact with the campus construction managers
+ Engage subregion design manager for any changes that require engineers of record approval and may vary from the approved global engineering design basis.
+ Manage the AE personnel effectiveness and construction support cost
+ Work in collaboration and support cross functional team at site.
+ Oversee, manage, track, and report the timely submittal review, technical clarifications/resolution, RFI management, BMI coordination, to ensure the project meets the approved SLAs and OKRs requirements: Maximum 48 hours (2 days) to respond to RFI, Maximum 5 days to review, comment, and disposition suppliers' submittals
+ Supporting issue closeout and defining success parameters pertaining to testing and commissioning.
+ Providing regular updates to the Campus CM/PM including leading and lagging indicators to proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with commissioning activities.
+ Conducting audits, analysing problems, and providing recommendations for issue resolution.
+ Reviewing the effectiveness of the general contractor against the baseline schedule and providing feedback.
+ Sharing best practices for issue management, quality management, and program management.
+ Implementing changes based on lessons learned to improve commissioning procedures and practices.
+ Supporting analysis and tracking of key performance metrics for L1 through L5 commissioning tags (Red/Yellow/Green/Blue).
+ Participate in high-risk activity (HRA) planning meetings
+ Ensures high-risk SOWs, SOPs and MOPs are reviewed, and all sources of energy are identified.
+ Ensure a process is established that verifies qualifications, training, and Personal Protective

**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelors degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND **Significant** years of related experience in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering OR equivalent experience.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified and experienced electrical engineer with expertise in data center electrical power engineering. A team player able to work in a multi-disciplined engineering team designing Microsoft Data Centers globally and possess the skills to work in a fast paced multi project environment. Ideal candidate is knowledgeable in power generation and transmission topologies. Having a firm understanding of the electrical distribution system design and monitoring requirements for mission critical environment.
+ **Significant** years of technical engineering experience
+ OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field AND **Good** years of technical engineering experience
+ OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field AND **Proven** years of technical engineering experience
+ Minimum of bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related engineering field with experience in consulting engineering,
+ Technical understanding of mission critical environments.
+ In-depth knowledge of design, operation and maintenance of electrical systems including uninterruptible power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, and automatic/static transfer switches.
+ In-depth knowledge of relays, protection schemes, high-voltage distribution system, power and distribution transformers, earthing and switching.
+ In depth knowledge of data centre and substation design
+ Ability to manage, prioritize and successfully execute multiple concurrent mission-critical infrastructure projects.
+ Ability to lead team of engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large data centre environments.
+ Extensive experience and ability to work on Design & Build (D&B) and Design Bid Build (DBB) projects
+ Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology including the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and documents is essential.
+ Must possess strong leadership competencies and willingness to collaborate and work cross- functionally to maximize business results and positive customer experiences.
+ Experience managing both internal and external vendors, with a proven ability to manage and monitor progress to ensure objectives are achieved for outsourced project efforts.
+ Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills at varying levels of business up to and including business executives.
+ Excellent analytical and organisational skills.
+ Excellent problem solving, judgement, team building and decision-making skills.
+ Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
