We are currently seeking an Energy Group Intern in our Columbus, Ohio office for the Spring semester (January-May). This internship will be a part-time position working fewer than 20 hours a week.

The Energy Group Intern will work alongside the Woolpert Energy team on a variety of design elements to support the hydrology, grading, permitting, and other site development aspects of projects supporting energy transmission. Typical projects range from new electrical substations to underground electrical transmission duct banks. Interns will be assigned to an interdisciplinary team, allowing them to gain experience across the Energy Market. All these projects directly impact the communities where we live and work.
Responsibilities

• Work as part of the industry leading Energy team.
• Gain real-world experience working on actual projects alongside Licensed Engineers that are experts in their fields.
• Assist on station civil tasks: site design, stormwater management, access road and culvert design, permitting, grading, surveying, plan production and cost estimation.
• Assist on underground transmission tasks: duct bank routing, underground utilities conflict management, permitting, plan production and cost estimation.
• Work as a member of a team that coordinates with other internal teams and external subconsultants and clients.
• Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence.
• Work across multiple disciplines to gain a variety of knowledge and experience.

• Be enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, preferably with at least sophomore status
• Pursuing a Civil Engineering degree
• Ability to sit in the listed office (Columbus) at least 2 days per week when not enrolled in classes full time
• Have a general interest in site civil design
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to function well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
• Exceptional multitasking and time management skills
• Ability to work independently as Woolpert utilizes a hybrid work environment meaning part time in the office and part time from home (to be coordinated with supervisor)
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D and/or Microstation would be preferred, but not required
