Energy Transition Policy Intern
**Job Overview:** APTIM is looking for a motivated and engaged Energy Transition Policy Intern to join the Energy Transition team in San Diego or Los Angeles, CA. Working with the team, this role will be responsible for providing policy analysis and technical support across the Energy Transition portfolio of programs. In this role, the candidate will conduct research on relevant legislative issues, analyse policy proposals, investigate policy changes and research topics such as Demand Response (DR), Distributed energy Resources (DER's) and other emerging technologies. APTIM serves as the Program Administrator and implementer for various energy efficiency, emobility and HOMES/HEAR programs across the country. APTIM is responsible for designing and managing program operations; measuring, tracking, and reporting results; marketing, outreach, and community engagement; and providing engineering and technical resources. APTIM's Energy Transition team is a recognized leader in the marketplace. Our energy experts deliver highly innovative projects and complex client solutions providing the full breadth of solutions including energy efficiency, energy management, carbon management, smart infrastructure, and distributed energy resources (DER). Our consultants proactively collaborate with clients to define and implement strategies and programs around key business drivers, with the primary focus of finding and delivering high impact outcomes that exceed expectations and meet the unique needs of our government, utility, and commercial clients. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and analytical skills to provide program support regarding strategies and approaches in the evolving energy transition space. In this role, you will be working with others who are passionate about energy and sustainability and making a positive impact on the industry. **Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:** + Conduct research on emerging technology policy issues by compiling data, analysing statistics to support policy and program development. + Review outputs from targeted research entities, curating a list of relevant projects or reports. + Assist in the preparation of policy summaries and reports under the guidance of colleagues on the Energy Transition team. + Collaborate with team members to develop policy proposals and provide impute based upon research and collaboration. + Review regulatory bodies and utilities for DR and DER's. + Support efforts to facilitate the transfer of emerging technologies to the program teams. + Participate in meetings and workgroups to stay informed about policy discussions and developments. + Provide support such as document management. + All other related duties as assigned. + Ensure compliance with all APTIM quality and safety policies as well as all OSHA regulations. **Basic Qualifications:** + Attending an accredited educational institution pursuing a degree in public policy. + Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA with at least 60 hours of coursework completed. + Must be at least 18 years of age. + Must have experience with MS Office software, including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint. + Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills. + Able to work effectively and professionally in a both a team and autonomously. + Commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment within the team and the broader organization. + Detail-oriented with excellent time management, project management, and follow-through. + Proficient in Microsoft Office software. + Advanced written and oral communication skills. **Desired/Preferred Qualifications:** + 1+ years' experience in the energy efficiency industry preferred. + Understanding of energy efficiency technologies and energy-saving solutions including, lighting, HVAC, and mechanical systems. **Who we are and what we do:** **ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION** **ABOUT APTIM** APTIM is committed to accelerating the transition toward a clean and efficient energy economy, building a sustainable future for our communities and natural world, and creating a more inclusive and equitable environment that celebrates the diversity of our communities.
