Engine Field Service Technician - Level II
**DESCRIPTION** We are looking for a talented **Engine Field Service Technician** to join our team specializing in **Services, Maintenance and Diagnostics** for our **Service Ops Administration and Management** **Department** in **Kathu, South Africa.** **In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways** : + **Efficient Repairs** : By diagnosing and completing less complex engine repairs on-site, you'll ensure minimal downtime for customers, enhancing their satisfaction and trust. + **Customer Engagement** : Your courteous and professional interactions will build strong relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are met promptly and efficiently. + **Specialized Tools and Procedures** : Using specialized tools and following documented procedures will ensure high-quality repairs and maintenance, reducing the likelihood of future issues. + **Preventative Maintenance** : Performing scheduled preventative maintenance will help prevent major breakdowns, extending the life of engines and related components. + **Issue Escalation** : By escalating unresolved issues to more experienced technicians or supervisors, you'll ensure that complex problems are addressed effectively, maintaining service quality. + **Accurate Documentation** : Completing necessary documentation accurately will support warranty claims, quality control, and service records, contributing to overall operational efficiency. + **Service Opportunities** : Identifying additional service opportunities will help expand business and provide customers with comprehensive solutions. + **Training and Compliance** : Completing required training and adhering to Health, Safety & Environmental policies will ensure you are up-to-date with industry standards and regulations, promoting a safe and compliant work environment. **RESPONSIBILITIES** **To be successful in this role you will need the following:** + **Strong Diagnostic Skills** : Ability to translate customer complaints into effective troubleshooting plans, using specialized tools and software to isolate and resolve issues, and documenting the process for future reference. + **Proficiency with Electronic Service Tools** : Knowledge of the necessary hardware and software tools for service events, and the ability to interpret their results to determine the next steps for resolving issues. + **Understanding of Engine Systems** : Capability to analyze and interpret the interactions of various electrical and mechanical systems, using service publications and measurement tools to diagnose and repair efficiently. + **Expertise in Product Repair and Maintenance** : Skills in repairing and maintaining mechanical/electrical products according to guidelines, ensuring quality repairs, and minimizing customer costs by following re-use guidelines and performing progressive damage checks. **QUALIFICATIONS** **Education/ Experience** + Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred) + Locally valid driving permit + Basic level field service work experience + Customer service experience + Minimum of N2 certificate mechanical. + Minimum of 2 years working experience post apprentice. + Diesel mechanic trade test certificate or millwright trade test certificate. + Experience working on engines. **Job** Service **Organization** Cummins Inc. **Role Category** Hybrid **Job Type** Technician **ReqID** 2408364 **Relocation Package** No
