Engine Integration Technician II

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of technicians, you will process engine hardware for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on engine integration and ground testing. As an Engine Technician, you will be responsible for receiving and preparing engine hardware for testing, integrating test articles onto the test stand, and supporting engine test activities. You will support the Engines Business Unit and work hand-in-hand with the ground systems engineering and technician teams.


Additional responsibilities include:

Assemble rocket engines and components, adhering to precise engineering models and detailed procedures for both test and commercial operations.

Lead hardware processing activities, including component assembly, maintenance, and thorough inspections to ensure operational readiness.

Set up and adeptly operate a broad range of calibrated precision tools, such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers, to maintain exacting standards.

Operate critical engine and ground support equipment, ensuring meticulous preparation for testing phases.

Maintain an organized inventory of essential tooling and equipment to ensure immediate accessibility and functionality.

Conduct operations involving hazardous chemicals and high-pressure systems with an unwavering commitment to safety protocols.

Uphold a tidy and orderly work environment by performing routine maintenance tasks, aligned with 5S, FOD, and ESD standards.


Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations, the West Texas Site offers eligible employees additional attractive financial incentives to supplement their competitive base earnings, including a living allowance and relocation assistance, etc.  Eligibility is based on the employee’s ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn, TX.


Minimum Qualifications:

2+ years of hands-on experience in rocket engine or jet engine assembly and testing

Proficient in handling test and flight safety-critical hardware.

Competent in using standard mechanical tools and shop fabrication equipment.

Knowledgeable in tube fabrication techniques (bend, flare, fittings, etc.) and pressurized system safety

Proficient in interpreting complex engineering models, drawings, and technical documents.

Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office.

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Acceptable schedules: 5 days on x 2 days off or 9 days on x 5 days off

Willing and able to work first or second shift and overtime as required.

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


Physical Requirements:

Capable of performing physically demanding tasks in diverse weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and humidity.

Must be able to lift 40 lbs and comfortably climb ladders and stairs.

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of hands-on experience in rocket engine or jet engine assembly and testing

Industry certifications, trade school training and/or degree in related field

Working knowledge of a variety of rocket propellants, particularly cryogenics including Liquid Oxygen and Liquid Hydrogen

Experienced in handling large aerospace components

Skilled in handling large aerospace components and operating heavy lifting equipment, such as cranes and forklifts, around flight critical hardware
