JR62110 ENGINEER, F11 PSM

As a Process Safety Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for contributing to the development, implementation and sustainment of the Process Safety Management (PSM) Program. Working with a team of process hazard analsyis engineers, you will be required to lead or support various projects, activities and initiatives aimed at identifying, mitigating and managing risk at this site. In this role you can expect to work directly with engineers and professionals from Fab, Facilities and Safety teams as well as vendors, suppliers and consultants to achieve a world class process safety environment.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Implement and Support Process Safety Program and Initiatives

Monitor changes to procedures, equipment or processes for potential safety impacts and need for mitigation, escalation or further analysisWork with site EHS, Facility, and Fab Engineers to define and implement process safety solutions and strategies for controlling process hazards associated with chemistries, tools, and facilities systemsEngage in Incident Investigation when Process Safety is involvedSupport implementation of process safety improvements to process systems and equipment identified by sites and review process safety impacts from Model of Record (MOR) transferLead or participate on process safety projects or program initiatives

Collaborate to Assess and Mitigate Risk

Support engineering teams through process safety audits and systematic reviews of chemical and tool safety for new or changed processes, chemicals, or equipmentConduct or participate in risk analysis or hazard identification through the use of industry accepted techniques such as Hazard and Operability Studies (HazOp), LOPA, What-If review or other similar processesWork with engineering teams to develop and implement solutions for mitigating or controlling identified hazards and risksSupport transfer teams and the PHA community to compile Safety Release Documents (SRDs) during technology transfers to and from other sites.

Manage Process Safety Metrics and Measures

Manage hazard review findings and track to closureMaintain and report on metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor health and progress of the process safety programDrive closure to gaps in process safety metrics/KPI performanceIdentify and characterize process hazards in processes, equipment, and technologies and update the Relative Risk Analysis table as appropriate

Promote a Safe and Compliant Workplace

Maintain process safety information management including tool install documents, vendor safety bulletins or other industry process safety updatesAct as a point of reference for the process and equipment personnel on potential safety problemsWork with site teams to cultivate an environment of safety first when engaging in process or equipment maintenance activities
