Engineer, FT 80 (Rotating) Co-Generation/Plant Operations

Description:Reporting to the Director, Facilities Management, Facilities Improvement, this position is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of hospital systems which provide normal and emergency power, heating, conditioned ventilated air, soft domestic cold and hot water, compressed medical and control air and medical vacuum. The operation of plant equipment is monitored, and repair and/or maintenance work performed to ensure the continuing supply of power, heat, water, compressed air and medical vacuum.1. High school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Successful completion of an approved apprentice program or equivalent experience is required.

3. Must be able to identify and be proficient with all hand and power tools to include multimeter, amp, and probe.

4. Basic knowledge of electricity and fundamentals of wiring is required.

Pay Range ($35.95 - $48.53)

ROLE SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Monitor plant equipment in the prescribed manner to assure optimum efficiency and prevent or reduce downtime and maintenance costs.

2. Record designated pressures and temperatures to assure that plant equipment is operating within prescribed parameters.

3. Start, secure, adjust, regulate and control major and associated pieces of equipment to maintain conditions required by the hospital.

4. Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance on plant equipment, determine causes of failures/problems and take corrective action.

5. Perform preventative maintenance and filter changes according to established schedules.

6. Perform basic repairs and those indicated by the computerized diagnostic system.

7. Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, asbestos, and other hazardous substances.

8. Perform hospital rounds and identify issues in mechanical rooms (electrical, mechanical, controls, and any other issues).

9. Perform all watch standing in the plant. i.e., mix chemicals, fill chemical tanks, check generators, and water softeners.

10. Identify all mechanical equipment on all roofs and mechanical spaces.

11. Describe equipment and how it serves the hospital to include process.

12. Identify and read single line diagram for electrical systems in hospital.

13. Identify panels on the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) and which panels are the Uninterruptible power supply (UPS).

14. Familiar with supply and tool locations in order to assist other engineers on emergency repairs, to include plumbing and electrical supplies.

15. Perform minor repairs in a timely fashion, maintaining hospital productivity. 16. Participate in emergency repairs and/or special projects (weekend, holiday, and/or after hours).

17. Maintain tool cart and/or backpack, ensuring all hand tools are in order to respond to emergency call/repair.

18. Interpret all alarms in telemetry and generator panel, identifying issues of alarms.
