General Summary
The Network Engineer III is responsible for troubleshooting and implementing solutions on the Rise operational core network and network systems. Network Operations is made of multiple teams where engineers ensure an excellent experience for our customers on the Rise network. Network Engineer III work with all operations teams including capacity management, Field, and NOC teams for issue escalations, optimal pathing over existing fiber transports and peering to maximizing performance, reliability, and redundancy. This role requires a solid understanding of core networks and systems, including architectural design, as well as the implementation and operation of core network upgrades and improvements.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Helps in producing standards to support hybrid wireless/FTTH network designs that consider the complexity of existing network and new requirements within the core.Participates in continuous improvement of engineering standards relating to best practices, escalation processes and equipment programming.Plans and leads to completion large scale deployments and improvements in the core network with minimal disruption to the business or customers’ experience.Participates in an on-call rotation with colleagues.Understands overall project requirements, priorities and goals, risk management, and overall scope of work.Assists in creating training materials for members of the engineering teams.Works with third party vendors.Works on regularly scheduled days as well as unscheduled days and/or beyond regular work hours due to customer or operational demands, as needed. Adheres to all Company standard procedures, policies, and safety practices in the course of performing work activities.Other duties as assigned.Job Requirements
Minimum 7 years of experience planning or maintaining fixed wireless, FTTH or routed IP networks. Bachelor’s degree and CCNP Service Provider preferred.Extensive expertise in modern service provider data networks and technologies, with advanced troubleshooting skills in multi-vendor environments. Proficient in a range of technologies and protocols including L2VPN, L3VPN, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, Segment Routing, SR-TE, and IPv6. Experience with optical transport network technologies including 100G/400G Fiber, CWDM, DWDM and RAMAN, EFDA, Transponders, MUX/DEMUX.Knowledgeable with Cisco and Ciena systems. Experience working with datacenters and circuit providers.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.Must be prompt, reliable, have a sense of urgency, quick thinking.Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.Attention to detail in all areas of work.Ability to translate and work with information in NMS systems.Willingness and eagerness to learn and grow.Working Conditions
