The Technology Analysis Engineer will support the Technology Innovation team in evaluating and integrating ground breaking technologies into AES's clean energy projects. This role is critical in maintaining the company's competitive edge in the renewable energy sector.
The candidate will work under a hybrid scheme in the Louisville, CO office.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the review and techno-economic analysis (levelized cost of energy, levelized cost of storage, total cost of ownership, return on investment, etc.) of new clean energy generation and storage technologies, providing detailed reports and recommendations to the lead technology researchers, commercial teams, and finance teams.
• Work with project development teams and support proposals for pilot commercial facilities including these technologies based on client needs, AES capabilities, and local requirements.
• Apply a fundamentals-based view of technologies today and into the future, using existing examples as proxies.
• Process diverse elements of technology commercialization plans (supply chain, policy, business models) into integrated conclusions regarding technology growth potential.
• Support the planning and execution of technology integration strategies, ensuring alignment with AES's sustainability goals.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to gather data and insights on technology performance and potential applications.
• Participate in the development of project proposals, presentations, and technical reporting, and management of vendor technical documentation.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, advancements, and regulatory changes that may impact AES's technology roadmap.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices within the Technology Innovation department.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with >2 years’ experience working in energy industry relevant role(s).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an interest in technical research.
• Demonstrated ability to understand engineering and technology concepts, question assumptions, and make informed product and technology decisions.
• Capability to lead and work collaboratively across multiple teams and projects in a technical business environment
• Effective communication skills, capable of conveying complex information in a clear and concise manner.
• Demonstrated comfort in roles or positions that may lead to unique/novel views opposite to conventional wisdom.
• Eagerness to learn and grow within the field of renewable energy technology.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on experience with clean energy technology hardware, software, and research strongly preferred.
