The Underground Storage Engineer is responsible for designing and planning drilling operations to support natural gas storage facilities, as well as managing well workovers and conducting project evaluations. This role ensures all activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and environmental standards. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize the development, maintenance, and operation of gas storage wells and facilities.

What You Will Do:

Complete engineering evaluations of storage assets and provide recommendations for enhancement through maintenance and expansion projects. Assess feasibility, risks, and benefits to guide decision-making.

Provide technical expertise to internal and external groups in relation to storage projects and assets.

Design well drilling and workovers to enhance performance and integrity.

Prepare detailed plans, cost estimates, and schedules.

Evaluate subsurface geological and reservoir data to optimize drilling performance and methods.

Responsible for supporting well drilling, completions and workover activities necessary to ensure the integrity of natural gas storage wells and reservoirs.

Provide project management and work closely with field execution teams to efficiently complete projects.

Troubleshoot operational challenges and implement corrective measures.

Ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations, including the Oil, Gas & Salt Resources Act, O.Reg 245/97, Oil, Gas & Salt Resources Standards and CSA Z341.

Who You Are:

Related university degree in Engineering and a minimum of four (4) years or more of Engineering experience OR equivalent combination of formal education, certification and experience.

Registered with PEO as a P. Eng.

Valid class G drivers’ license and maintenance of a responsible driving record.

Ability to coordinate multiple projects at one time and meet defined timelines.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to influence without authority.

Preferred

Experience in natural gas well drilling and well workovers.

An understanding of reservoir characteristics, analysis methods, and flow theory.

Working Conditions:

Primarily office-based with frequent visits to drilling and workover sites.

Exposure to outdoor conditions and industrial environments.

Requires on-call availability to address operational emergencies.
