Engineer, Welding, PQM SVS

Introduction

 

Metso is seeking a skilled Welding Engineer to leverage their specialized knowledge of welding processes and materials to enhance the quality, efficiency, and performance of our equipment. As part of our team, you will contribute to developing and optimizing welding procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. Your expertise will play a vital role in ensuring our equipment meets the highest quality and safety standards. 

In this position, you will report to Deputy Manager Product Line Quality within the SVS GBP BL.

This position is mainly located in Vadodara, Gujarat, India and may require up to 20% travel.

You will join a team of Product Line Quality dedicated to Improving the Product quality in GBP BL in collaboration with our market areas, adjacent business lines, distribution network and other stakeholders. What you’ll do

 

WPS/PQR/WPQ Review: Assess Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ) in alignment with applicable drawings, specifications, and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, EN, AS/NZ). NDT Procedures Review: Evaluate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) procedures such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), and Visual Testing (VT) as per relevant drawings, specifications, and standards. Training: Train quality engineers and relevant personnel in reviewing welding and NDT procedures. Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with the engineering team to review supplier deviations related to welding and NDT processes. Document Correspondence: Manage the communication and correction of documents in coordination with Metso suppliers. Other Tasks: Perform additional duties as assigned by the organization.

 

 

Who you are

Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Certification in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods such as UT, PT, MT, VT or RT is an advantage. 5 plus year of experience as a welding engineer in a heavy equipment manufacturing environment. Experience in development of welding procedures and welder qualification. Experience in working as per ASME Sec II, Sec V, Sec VIII, Sec IX and AWS D1.1. Experience in NDT technique (UT, MPT, DP & VT) for soundness test of Plates, Welds, Castings & Forgings. Familiarity with metallurgical properties of materials and their weldability. Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication skills for collaboration with teams and training personnel. Attention to detail to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. Experience in SAP quality module and Jaggaer is beneficial for this role.
