SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Assist in the planning and implementation of Amtrak’s Track Roadway Maintenance Services including vegetation management, rail friction modification, and rail flaw detection. Provide technical support to division and production forces system wide and work closely with them to coordinate Roadway Maintenance Activities. Communicate with divisions to create and monitor slow order reports. Compile FRA Track Defect reports and examine safety trends.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Management of roadway maintenance contracts (weed spraying, rail friction modifiers and rail flaw detection). 
· Ensure compliance with FRA Track Safety Standards. 
· Provide technical support to division and production forces. 
· Perform site visits and safety audits in the field. 
· Create excel reports for track slow orders and FRA defects.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· BS in Engineering or other relevant degree or related experience 3 years railroad work experience in the areas of track inspection, maintenance and construction. 
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. 
· Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and capable of working creatively and independently. 
· Demonstrated ability to interface with outside railroad or government regulatory agencies.

 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Good written and verbal communication skills 
· Prior railroad experience

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience with Track Safety Standards 49 CFR Part 213 
· Experience with ultrasonic testing of rail 
· Experience with rail friction modifiers 
· Experience with vegetation management M/W Track experience 
· Experience with Maximo or similar track inspection program

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Office and field work environment. 
· Travel up to 25%

 

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

PAY TRANSPARENCY:

The salary/hourly range is $86,500-$111,996. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
