Caterpillar Inc. seeks Engineer at its facility located at 875 W Cushing St, Tucson AZ 85745.
Quantify Caterpillar Large Mining Truck Operating Applications in the field. Utilize simulation to identify areas on large mining truck frame and structures that are most susceptible to damage based on expected operation. Develop a means to capture high frequency strain data in areas of suspected damage. Design a data recording system to integrate high frequency strain gauge data with high frequency data recorded from Machine Embedded Control Modules, and stream all collected data back to Caterpillar servers. Travel to customer mine sites across the world to install the Data Recording System to quantify Machine Operating Conditions and Applications. Analyze Machine Data to predict life of various structures, based on Machine operation and Application. Quantify the severity of applications that Large Mining Trucks operate in, and feed this data back to design teams, so that the expected operation of machines can be properly reflected in simulation.
REQS: This position requires a Master’s, degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and Five (5) years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Durability Engineer, or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Large mining trucks, their operation, and their applications; (2) Structural design and damage quantification; and (3) Simulation and Virtual Product Development. Telecommuting: 2 days/week. 30% travel required to both international and domestic sites required.
Summary Pay Range:
$130,749.00 - $143,520.00
