GENERAL PURPOSE
In a developing capacity and under direct supervision, applies basic engineering principles, concepts, theories, and techniques in support of business objectives and may provide fundamental engineering leadership and expertise. May conduct feasibility studies, determine manpower and cost estimates, and develop engineering criteria. Performs primary analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components. May apply originality, ingenuity and knowledge of other disciplines in solving basic technical issues. Emphasis will be placed on team participation, ability to plan, and ability to achieve results on assigned projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Demonstrates the ability to take detailed notes, clearly showing work and assumptions.
Utilizes originality and ingenuity to develop and apply innovative solutions.
Applies fundamental engineering skills to various work assignments.
Employs basic problem-solving techniques to address and resolve issues.
Integrates basic supply chain cost analysis, value stream capabilities, and economic principles into work processes.
Completes engineering tasks as directed by leadership.
Adheres to established engineering and quality processes.
Performs additional duties as needed to support business objectives.
Actively seeks and receives mentoring from senior engineers and leadership.
Obtains budget approvals through the appropriate request processes.
Works under direct supervision with completed work reviewed for soundness of judgment.
Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience
Engineering/Technical degree from an accredited program or 2-year technical degree in related field with 3 years of applicable engineering experience
0-2 years of professional engineering experience
Skills/Abilities
Exposure to project management concepts, which may be essential for certain assignments.
Basic knowledge of Lean principles and their application.
Ability to assess process concepts and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Effective communication skills with individuals at various levels, including production, engineering, and management, fostering strong partnerships with team members.
Proficiency in common office automation, communication software, tools, Herman Miller mainframe applications, and engineering-related software.
Basic problem-solving skills with the ability to apply engineering expertise to resolve issues.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and workflows, anticipating and responding effectively to shifts that impact project plans, as directed by supervision.
Fundamental understanding of business principles and the impact of decisions on business results.
Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodation.
