R34146 Electrical Engineer

The Electrical Engineer – Service will act as the primary technical liaison between the core engineering team and the organization's functional teams, focusing on support of product issue resolution.  Specific responsibilities include working closely with field technicians and service centers, as well as sales, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to:

Design solutions to issues our customers are experiencing in the field

Improve product serviceability and design life

Support new product launches

Position is on-site in Dodge Center, MN

YOUR IMPACT:  

Provide guidance and field engineering support to the service team including troubleshooting, design, and testing and validation field repairs

Diagnose problems and provide failure analysis on a follow-up service report. Provide timely, detailed and accurate reports on failure analysis, product performance, and warranty including estimated expense and time

Collaborate with other teams to ensure aftermarket readiness for new product launches and launches of key product changes

Develop and maintain strong working relationships between company and dealer/customers and demonstrate an awareness of customer needs, preferences, time and financial constraints

Ensure adequate materials and parts planning to address field service issues as they arise

Under close supervision, perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to McNeilus as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.

Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.

Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.

Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.

Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.

Perform and Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.

Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.

Provide non-complex technical assistance for production support.

Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication.

Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.

Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs.

Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering and communicate status via verbal or written communication.

Other duties as assigned.

Regular attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field along with Internship experience or six (6) or more months of related work experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS: 

Accredited Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

Electrical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems.

Experience in vehicle service industry

Experience with 3-D CAD Systems (SolidWorks Preferred)

Familiarity with programming languages and controls software.

Familiarity with Controller Area Network (CAN)/SAE J1939 and/or Vehicle Networking.

Wire Harness design experience.

Experience with the use of data acquisition systems

Excellent people (relationship-building) skills

Organized, professional and possess a high level of integrity

Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal cross-functional teams

Pay Range:

$63,500.00 - $101,700.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
