Element has an opportunity for an Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The engineer position must be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures
This position will be based in Dubai, UAE
Responsibilities Perform metallurgical examination (like macro examination, microstructure examination, grain size, inclusion count, banding index, phase balance, nodularity), corrosion testing (like ASTM A 262, ASTM G48, ASTM G28, ASTM A 923) and chemical analysis (OES) on various ferrous and non-ferrous alloysAbility to support in performing mechanical testing with a minimum hands-on experience in tensile testing, bend testing, charpy impact testing, hardness testingProvide technical and engineering leadership, and supports the development of new technologies within the laboratoryBe competent and capable to perform site tests as and when required and undertake associated tasks like liaising with clients, planning the work, executing the work and submit the technical reports in timeBe accountable for accurate and timely release of testing data to customers including sign-offs of quality control data as acceptableBe expected to obtain guidance in non-routine situation testingHave the ability to oversee standard and/or routine technical problem solving activitiesInteract with customers and witness representatives on technical issues and questionsProvide Input and support on business development opportunities with new or existing customersBe confident in making both formal and informal presentations on conventional and/or routine testing to a wide range of stakeholdersAssist in the professional development of novice technicians and engineers within the local laboratoryCarry out crucial examination and implementation of testing concepts and data using an assortment of skill, methods, procedures and materialsBe adept at drawing on internal knowledge as well as industry and/or academic resources in reaching testing conclusionsWill be required to work in varied shifts as required and also work at site locations for testing as deemed necessary by Company Skills / Qualifications Working knowledge of laboratory safety and work culture in an ISO 17025 laboratoryPossess a good level of expertise related to scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries of chosen engineering disciplinePossess a minimum of an engineering degree in Metallurgy or Mechanical disciplinesHave a minimum of 3 years’ pertinent post degree engineering experience, or advanced academic/professional qualificationsPossesses a demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element’s business and handle technical discussions and audits independentlyIn-depth understanding of testing concepts and hands on-experience in handling test equipment related to the required responsibilities to be undertaken for this positionCan analyze and compile testing data from the tests performedPossess strong computer skills along with good oral and written communication skills in English
