Job Description

Canam currently has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time, professional Civil, Structural, Building Engineer at our steel joist and deck manufacturing facility in Calgary.

As a member of our engineering team, your responsibilities will include:

Design joist members and welds in compliance with applicable codes and standards.Provide engineering support to the drafting team and other departments.Review and interpret contract documents to ensure all specifications are met during fabrication.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fabrication and site problems.Check special designs, review drafting and shop orders, and sign-off on projects.Develop repair procedures and create sketches for misfabrication or site-specific conditions.Promote a positive work environment through effective communication and professional interactions with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:

Education & Experience:A bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Building Engineering.Progressive experience with a focus on structural steel is an asset.Technical Knowledge:Strong understanding of engineering theories, principles, and Canadian Engineering standards.Familiarity with structural drawings and detailing in the structural steel industry is an asset.Professional Designation:Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with the Association of Professional Engineers of Alberta or another Canadian jurisdiction, or eligible for licensure.Skills:Exceptional organizational skills and proficiency in English communication (verbal and written).Ability to effectively communicate ideas and recommendations to non-engineering team members.Capacity to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands.Personal Attributes:Demonstrate punctuality, maturity, reliability, and professionalism.Work effectively under pressure with frequent interruptions while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.

This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic environment.

Additional Information

Our Environment:

Working safely is a condition of employment at Canam. 

Primarily a standard office setting with regular use of computer display screens, along with occasional exposure to a manufacturing shop environment.
