Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$64,500 - $167,200

Position Brand Description:

The Engineer – Automation will develop, implement, and continuously improve process automation solutions within Indianapolis Device Assembly and Packaging (IDAP) to ensure that business goals are achieved for the Vault Device Assembly process team. This position will require the development of expertise in production processes, commissioning, qualification, and validation requirements and equipment specific code and/or control system technologies.

The Engineer–Automation is responsible for equipment performance, providing frontline support to production processes, and supporting area engineering initiatives, process improvements, and small project implementation.  This will be done while ensuring that process automation solutions / systems are in-control, capable, and compliant.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

Provide Technical automation and controls support for the Vault Device Assembly process team.

Provide technical support related to automation and controls related technologies and be the subject matter expert for the line's production code and automation technologies.Assist in the creation of qualification protocols for control systems and ensure that the qualification activities are appropriate for the intended use of the equipment.Ensure changes to existing automation control systems do not have an adverse impact to the qualified state of the equipment.Define the scope of requalification activities when required due to changes or identified trends in the asset qualification monitoring activities.Support the process teams by overseeing the implementation of network wide improvements (Data Integrity, Life Cycle Management, Cybersecurity etc).Oversee the ongoing asset qualification monitoring of direct impact systems to verify that they remain in a state that is fit for their intended use.Assist in identifying key elements for return to service of control systems after interventions and/or maintenance.

Coaching and Mentoring

Provide electrical/automation coaching and mentoring to the team's process engineers.Ability to provide technical guidance and influence team members and defining project expectations/deliverables.

Site Expectations

Provide frontline floor support for unscheduled downtime of equipment.Serve as the automation representative on asset delivery projects.Serve as the automation subject matter expert in project initiatives or benchmarking with other Lilly teams/departments.

Minimum Requirements:

Ability to work in a safe manner to ensure the safety of self and others.Ability to learn and gain proficiency in the automation technologies and software required to provide support to the production linesExcellent interpersonal and communications skills to be able to work effectively in a team-based environment.Responsible for leading by example in safety, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.

Additional Preferences:

Bachelor’s Degree or 4+ years automation experience.Previous experience as a process automation engineer or process engineer is desirable.Expertise in one or more automation platforms, preferably Rockwell Automation and Cognex Vision systemsStrong experience in troubleshooting, problem solving, control systems, network integration, and IT systemsExcellent verbal and communication skillsPharmaceutical and GMP experience is desirable.Computer System Validation experience is desirable.

Other Information:

8-hour days and after-hour support which includes a rotating weekend on-call scheduleOccasional travel may be required for training, conferences, capital projects, etc.
