The Engineer will work with complex systems and equipment, while providing engineering and technical services to support our growing organization. Design, program, test, troubleshoot, and support the installation of various electronic, microprocessor, and electromechanical based systems that monitor, protect, and operate the transmission and distribution systems throughout the New Hampshire service territory.This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.
Essential Functions:
Design, program, test, troubleshoot, and support the installation of various electronic, microprocessor, and electromechanical based systems that monitor, protect, and operate the transmission and distribution systems throughout the New Hampshire service territory.Determine and issue technical specifications for the procurement and maintenance of SCADA, communication, and automation equipment and systems.Provide engineering expertise to diagnose and repair malfunctioning or defective electrical and software based equipment.Develop documentation for lessons learned and report on findings and solutions.Identify common and generic problems with equipment and implement or recommend appropriate corrective action.Conduct evaluations, research, and development of new technologies, systems, and test equipment.Develop and maintain various databases, web interfaces, interrogation programs, and remote communication capability for substation IEDs.Support project efforts through field crew guidance, process/procedure recommendations, technical modifications, and on-site troubleshooting.Provide expertise and assist automation groups from MA and CT when necessary.Provide technical support for Transmission & Distribution equipment maintenance, testing, and repair.Support infrared inspection analysis.Support the development and execution of Capital Projects.Other related duties as assigned.Technical Knowledge/Skill:
Knowledge of IEC 61850 and associated technology.Knowledge of power system engineering, transmission/distribution system operations, substation automation equipment, and field communication technology.Detailed understanding and experience with PLC communication and program configuration interpretation is preferred.In-Depth knowledge of communication protocols and routable network topology and design.Experience with code structure theory, GUI development, and troubleshooting best practices is highly desired.Familiarity with utility regulatory processes and requirements in New Hampshire is preferred.Detailed understanding of NERC reliability and cyber security (CIP) standards is preferred.Advanced skill in reading and interpreting instructions, project scope documents, technical bulletins, diagrams, and prints.Skill in analyzing and solving complex problems with limited information and guidance.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with peers, teams, field resources, managers, vendors, and individuals at multiple levels of the organization.Ability to provide technical direction and training to co-workers to ensure accurate, consistent, and timely work product development.Extensive self-motivated and independent research skills.Strong written and spoken communication skills including the ability to effectively articulate technical issues to individuals with different levels of expertise.Strong skills with MS Office applications as well as internet-based tools and resources.Strong customer focus and team leadership skills.Ability and willingness to promote and encourage a positive, cooperative, and efficient work atmosphere.Skilled in meeting deadlines, multi-tasking, prioritization of competing work, and working independently with limited supervision.Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline is required.Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator's license.Ability to obtain Thermographer Certification.Experience:
A minimum of three years of related experience.Compensation and Benefits:
Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $94,70.00 to $105,250.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.Working Conditions:
