Engineer - Backend
ImpactAs a Engineer on the Platform and Shared Services team at Shipt, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing the systems and services that power Shipt's core systems and Platform Integrations. You will be collaborating with staff, principal, senior engineers and the product team to drive the architecture delivery for the success of business goals. Additionally, you should be comfortable working in an Agile environment and follow agile practices.
You will work on a team of about 5 engineers to design, develop, test, deploy and maintain application code using Golang, Postgres, Redis and Kafka in a micro-services architecture. You will work with cross-functional teams to address various challenges in supporting core systems, ensuring the stability, scalability, and performance of applications.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful2+ years experience working on end to end software development lifecycle.You know how to develop backend microservice applications.You are able to build software applications that run in production using Golang or a similar programming language like Java, C#, C/C++ or Python.You enjoy reviewing and collaborating with other engineers on their code.You are able to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.You are passionate about participating in the design process to build efficient, scalable, and maintainable architecture.You are willing to monitor and own the platform and shared services team and be part of weekly on-call production support rotation.Strong knowledge of testing fundamentals; unit, integration, e2e, etc.Experience with Postgres, Redis, and Kafka.

Work Arrangement

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader.  Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis. Pay range:

Metro Areas of Boston, District of Columbia, Seattle and New York City: 

$74,732-$149,463

Metro Areas of Los Angeles and San Francisco: 

$115,763.35-$149,463

All other locations:

$62,186-$124,481

Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
