Opportunity

Opportunity exists to join our Mine Planning team at our Boddington mine site.

 

Boddington offers the ability to work in the beautiful South West on a Drive in, Drive out (DIDO) roster. Less than 2 hours from Perth and approximately 100kms from the coast there will be plenty of time to enjoy the lifestyle this area has to offer.

 

As the Drill and Blast Engineer onsite you will be responsible for the optimal design and scheduling of safe and efficient drilling and blasting activities at our large scale, dynamic operation. You’ll be excited by the blasting requirements; they are challenging due to the nature of the rock, the high production rates and the sensitivity of the local community to extraneous noise and vibration.

 

This role has a “whole of business” focus; you will work closely with Mine Planning, Mine Operations, Geotechnical, Geology, Environmental & External Relations, and Processing departments to optimise Drill and Blast Engineering.

 

Key Responsibilities

Plan daily, weekly and monthly drill and blast schedules and designs utilising MineSight software.Providing practical analysis of drill and blast outcomes, undertaking trials and project work, refining strategies, finding solutions and development of new capabilities for inclusion into the D&B Design Standard.Manage the supply of drilling and blasting consumables, products and services.Provide mentoring and training to other junior engineers, graduates and operations staff in drill and blast design.Assist Senior D&B Engineers with budget preparation and cost management control.Demonstrate personal commitment in regard to safety and environmental practices.

About You

We are looking for a qualified Mine Engineer (or equivalent skills and experience) with solid Drill & Blast Engineer design experience able to effectively record, monitor and analyse blasting operations.

 

Complementing your technical expertise you will also bring your:

highly effective communication skills across a wide range of disciplinesability to develop strong working relationships to influence and gain collaboration to meet operational objectivesenjoyment working in a demanding, fast paced environment with multiple prioritiesexperience in MineSight, Shotplus and Surface Manager software will be highly regarded.
