Job Description Summary

               

This position supports Lamb Weston’s Electrical, Automation & Controls strategic vision by providing technical guidance for Lamb Weston’s strategic capital projects and existing manufacturing facilities. Acts as the Primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for model predictive control program. Strong communication skills are required, as is the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a large range of individuals in the organization – from plant floor personnel to the senior leadership team. Additionally, the individual selected for this role will have the ability to identify and communicate risks to minimize potential impacts to plant operations and project schedules. The successful applicant will understand industrial automation and control systems, industrial networking systems, and industry best practices for engineering and construction activities.

Job Description

This role will assist in development and review of project documentation to ensure compliance with performance criteria, company standards, electrical code compliance, and established industry best practices

This position provides leadership and support for development, implementation, and usage of continuous improvement opportunities using advanced process control solutions, including Model Predictive Control (MPC).   The successful applicant will lead research, testing, and deployment initiatives to look “outside the norm” for automation innovations to gain production. Additionally, the selected candidate will assist with the preparation of studies, reports, schedules, budgets, inspections, and bid requests, evaluation of bid submittals, direction and coordination of contractors, and project closeouts and analysis. This role serves as a consultant to plant automation initiatives, providing technical information and recommendations that assist with various projects. The job requires excellent production, technical and analytical skills, organizational and communication skills, and will involve travel and on-site time at various plants.

Whether directly, or through contractors, the successful applicant will develop and deliver high quality designs and drawings, facilitating rapid implementation. Working closely with the various levels of GTS Operations Management, EHSS, Food Protection, Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Plant Staff, and Production Personnel is critical. This position is based out of our Kennewick, Washington, engineering office

Job Responsibilities

Support for Lamb Weston Global Engineering strategic projects and manufacturing facilities may include tasks such as:

Participating on project teams, including facilitating meetings and high-level integrator oversight,Providing scoping and budgeting assistance as part of project development,Providing guidance for automation and control systems, including technical review of submittals to ensure compliance with Lamb Weston specifications and standards,Coordination with Lamb Weston GTS (formerly IT) on critical network interfaces and design,Occasional on-site construction and commissioning support.

Other position responsibilities may include:

Primary SME for the Model Predictive Control (MPC) programUpdating and/or creating specifications and standards in conjunction with other team members to support Lamb Weston strategic vision.Engaging in continuous training programs to keep up to date with current and emerging technologies as they relate to food manufacturing processes.Training of Lamb Weston employees on Electrical, Automation, and ControlsRegional and Domestic travel up to 25%. Infrequent international travel.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

BS in an Engineering or related field preferred (Electrical Engineering degree preferred).Controls/Network training or extensive related job experience

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate’s work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $74,190.00 - $111,300.00
