Want to be part of the team? Apply today! We look forward to meeting you. **The Role** This position is for Engineer Electromechanical 4 with technical cognizance on the following Gerald R. Ford Class Aircraft Carrier machinery systems: Electric Aircraft Elevators (EACE), structural hull closures, sea chests, non-structural tanks, stern dock, shore power, department shock lead. Responsibilities include project management, design, manufacturing oversight, qualification testing, technical analysis, deviation resolution, and technical leadership. The successful candidate will develop effective working relationships with internal NNS and external Government customers. Additionally, the candidate will provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems. **Must Have** Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 4 years of experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program. **Nice to Have** The candidate should have a good understanding of aircraft carrier machinery systems and be able to provide technical resolution of related engineering problems, perform/review associated technical calculations and analyses, and perform system owner level technical review of drawings, models, and other Engineering products. The ideal candidate should be capable of applying extensive technical expertise to electrical and mechanical engineering principles to develop technical solutions to complex problems for large military application electromechanical equipment. Experience in troubleshooting and root causal analysis.
