We look forward to meeting you. **The Role** The Electromechanical Engineer 3 candidate will assist system owning engineers with the selection, application and implementation of Cyber-based security controls on various network systems. This will include interpreting cybersecurity requirements for inclusion in purchase documents and specifications as well as assisting in validating those requirements. The candidate will also assist in the creation and execution of System Security Plans (SSPs) for systems falling under NIST 800-171 requirements. Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems. **Must Have** Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program. **Nice to Have** • A Bachelor’s degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program • Applying engineering acumen for the analysis and documentation supporting the Cyber Assessment & Authorization (A&A) activities. • Acting as a liaison with governing agencies that oversee the authorization process. • Providing technical guidance to information system owners in evaluating security controls/device vulnerabilities. • Experience decomposing general requirements into functional, testable requirements • Hand’s on knowledge of network and computing technologies. • • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with various teams The ideal candidate will have: o Previous A&A experience with RMF and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), including SSP and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) development o Knowledge of the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST 800-171 processes. o Hands-on experience implementing security features on various network and computing technologies o Experience with Industrial Control Systems (ICS), including assessment o Experience with security assessment and monitoring tools (i.e. Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)/Nessus, Splunk, etc.) o Experience with Navy shipboard systems DoD 8570 recognized certification (i.e., Security+, Network+, CCNA, etc.) preferred **Why HII** We build the world’s most powerful, survivable naval ships and defense technology solutions that safeguard our seas, sky, land, space and cyber.
