Engineer - Engineer Training Program (Spring 2025)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Pursuing a BS in Engineering from an accredited institution with December 2024 or Spring 2025 graduation date. Must be able to meet relocation requirements. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicants ability to lawfully obtain access to such items

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Pursuing a BS in Materials Science & Engineering/Metallurgical/Ceramics Engineering, Automation, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred. Previous internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing environment or lab environment is highly desired. Knowledge of MS Office and Excel, excellent written and oral communication skills, able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organizational skills. Working knowledge of statistical analysis. Knowledge/exposure to facilities engineering  Demonstrated technical ability through classwork and projects. Ability to work with and lead a team. Knowledge of Six Sigma or lean manufacturing. Desire to work in an advanced manufacturing environment. Strong analytical abilities.

The Engineer Training Program (ETP) is one of Howmet's longest running & most successful technical development programs with alumni in leadership roles throughout the company.  The focus of the ETP is to provide technical development & training for new engineers in the processes, technologies, & manufacturing that are used in the investment casting industry.  The program also focuses on developing leaders & building a strong foundation while exposing engineers to different parts of our Engines business.  During the 18 months, individuals will participate in a total of three assignments, lasting six months each, & will benefit from formal mentoring, coaching & competency development.  Assignments are cross-functional & based on individual interests as well as the needs of the organization.  During the final rotation, current full-time openings are matched to the interest(s) of the ETP Engineer & a transition plan is implemented.  This will ultimately lead to a final placement at one of the Howmet Engines locations in a role such as Process Engineer, Product Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Owner, Automation Engineer & Facilities Engineer.

Where Will This Position Be Located? 3 rotations will be assigned among the following cities:

Dover, NJ (2 facilities) Hampton, VA (2 facilities) La Porte, IN Morristown, TN Wichita Falls, TX Whitehall, MI (6 facilities)

Daily Responsibilities/Activities: ETP Engineers will learn the following in the program:

Affect change within the business: Contribute to some of the world’s most technologically advanced aerospace systems. Ability to take on technical challenges and deal with complexity. Experience cross functional technical development opportunities. Step into a career directed toward becoming a future technical leader or business leader of the organization. Technical assignments will be diverse in subjects related to, but not limited to: Casting Dimensional Analysis/Control Alloy Manufacture Metals/Ceramics/Polymers Thermal Processing Data Science Automation Coating Facilities
