Engineer I, Additive Manufacturing

Make a meaningful difference to patients around the world. At Edwards Lifesciences facilities around the world, our Manufacturing teams create the tools, technologies, and devices that transform patients’ lives. As part of our sewing, assembly, delivery, and distribution teams, your attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement will help us turn innovative ideas into reality. Your purpose-driven work will help leave lasting and positive impacts on patient lives.

This Additive Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for design, development, and testing of all facets of the additive process with a focus on machines, software, part design, analysis, and additive techniques.

How you'll make an impact:

Continually identify and implement process improvement efforts throughout the additive manufacturing process

Advise and collaborate with the design team to incorporate and optimize features for additive manufacturing

Generate/optimize build files to produce high quality parts in minimum time with maximum consistency

Work with engineers and designers to investigate properties, geometric accuracy, and surface finish results to develop optimal print parameters, heat treatments, and design allowable for existing and new materials

Improve manufacturing processes using engineering methods (e.g., LEAN methods, basic statistics) for continuous process improvement

Develop and document best practices on new equipment and processes

Identify and implement safety improvements throughout the additive manufacturing process

Develop basic experiments and tests (including writing and executing protocols) to qualify and validate manufacturing processes; analyze results, make recommendations, and develop reports

Establish project plans to ensure deliverables are completed to customer’s expectations, using project management tools (e.g., Project Plan, Risk Analysis)

Support the cost estimation process and record build time, machining time, and other information required to assemble timely and accurate quotes for customers

Identify opportunities for re-design/design of basic equipment, tools, fixtures, etc. to improve manufacturing processes

Oversee additive manufacturing tasks; give instruction to technicians on conducting tests; train technicians and provide feedback; and coordinate technician work

Create 3D CAD models of design concepts, propose modifications for additive manufacturing

Rapid and traditional prototyping of design features for assessment and comparison

Other incidental duties assigned by leadership
