Job Description:

Microchip has an opportunity for an Engineer I-Information Services (Equipment Integration) in the IT Applications department at our Fab 4 facility in Gresham, Oregon. The Engineer I-Software will work

independently while taking direction from the Gresham Enterprise Applications site manager.

Essential Functions

Setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting host communications for semiconductor equipment used by Fab 4 Manufacturing and Engineering organizations.

End to end troubleshooting of semiconductor equipment host communications.

Independently coordinate and implement robust solutions that go beyond regular equipment resets.

Collaborate with IT network engineers to ensure network best practices are utilized at the Gresham facility.

Use the Microchip tracking systems to log requests, issues, and projects.

Work with both a technical and non-technical user community.

Interact professionally with colleagues, leads, supervisors, managers, internal customers, and other departments.

Participate in the training and onboarding of new employees and integrating new team members into functional area.

This position will report to the Gresham Enterprise Applications site manager.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies

BS Degree: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.

0-2 years of experience troubleshooting equipment automation issues.

Basic understanding of programming languages such as C, C++, C#.

Comfortable with both Windows and Linux operating system environments.

Knowledge of the OSI model.

Experience performing network cabling cross connects.

Familiarity with proper network communication hand shaking protocols.

Experience setting up a terminal server for deployment in an enterprise environment.

Ability to maintain a "Big Picture" perspective.

Self-driven – Strong time management and project management skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and in a team to develop innovative solutions.

Flexible and responsive regarding changes to process and work assignments.

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with frontend semiconductor manufacturing.

Knowledge of fab equipment communication protocols (SECS/GEM).

Experience troubleshooting issues within a corporate network environment.

Experience working with equipment management, fault detection classification/control and cell controller software solutions.

Semiconductor experience working with fab equipment.

Platform experience with Unix/Linux and Microsoft Windows.

Knowledge of SEMI Standards, SECS/GEM standards and VFEI protocols.

Knowledge of relational databases and their tools (Oracle preferred).

Critical Physical Requirements

Must be able to work for long periods in a clean room environment wearing full bunny suit attire.

Must be able to lift 25 lbs; push 60 lbs, pull approx. 60 lbs; carry 25 lbs; sit 60%; stand 20%; walk 20%; must be able to perform activities that include bending at waist, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, crawling, handling, feeling, hearing, talking, seeing.
