Job Description:

The Space & Power Management Group (SPM), a division of Microchip Corporation, is a leading designer, manufacturer, and marketer of relays and contactors in power management. We are currently seeking an Electrical Test Engineer for our Garden Grove, California facility. The successful candidate will assist in the design and electrical testing of our mechanical power relay products, which are central to our primary market.

This engineering position supports the test department through design, design review, prototyping, specification review, material verification, and validation and qualification testing.

Essential Responsibilities:

Possess a strong understanding of analog electrical design, troubleshooting, and testing, with experience in the fabrication and design of electrical system components. Responsibilities include setting up, testing, and troubleshooting circuits, components, instruments, and electrical assemblies and devices.Creatively utilize existing resources to facilitate the collection, presentation, and evaluation of data required to verify conformance to key design parameters and identify potential discrepancies in the electrical performance of electro-mechanical devices.Perform root cause analysis, diagnostics data mining, and implement corrective actions for nonconforming conditions of supplier parts. Collaborate with engineering to disposition parts and prescribe appropriate rework, considering product risk, safety, and efficacy.Review and update process documents, engineering drawings, product specifications, and test reports as required or requested by production or the Engineering Manager.Set up test equipment for relay or electrical power switches and contactor testing using basic electrical and electronic principles.Conduct tests per Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) as required by the specifications.Analyze and summarize test results, prepare technical reports summarizing findings, recommend solutions to technical problems, and assist in the selection and setup of specialized test equipment.Determine and develop test specifications, methods, and procedures for testing relays or contactors, and create forms and reports for communication with customers.

Requirements/Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Engineering is required.Proficiency and 1-3 years of experience in electrical device design preferred.New graduates from a two-year technical trade or military technical school with 3 years of relevant experience will also be considered

Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in California, is $66,560 -$128,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
