**Job Description Summary** The Engineer II is an essential part of BD’s Digital Engineering (DE) team and will have the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of BD’s next-generation medical products and enhance the current product portfolio. The Engineer II, under the general direction of the Digital Engineering Staff Engineer - CT & Imaging, will apply industrial CT and complementary imaging technologies to evaluate and optimize design functionality as well as actively research and develop advanced techniques and best practices. We are excited to add a highly motivated, self-directed individual who can adapt quickly and work within a dynamic environment. **This role is located in** **Research Triangle Park** **(near Raleigh/Durham)** **RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Operate industrial Computed Tomography (CT) scanners and complementary imaging technologies. Develop expertise in the use of imaging systems for medical product development. + Analyze and post-process voxel-based data in support of BD’s product portfolio using Volume Graphics, Geomagic, Mimics, and/or equivalent software. + Provide engineering support using industrial CT scanning and complementary imaging technologies throughout BD. + Interact with product development teams to examine options and develop plans to demonstrate imaging tools to support project objectives. + Actively research and implement new technologies and best practices within imaging and post-processing. + Maintain state-of-the-art voxel-based data post-processing competencies through training courses, seminars, and industry conferences. + Participate in and contribute to the team's activities by continuously improving processes and team development. **QUALIFICATIONS:** + Minimum of a B.S. in Engineering, Metrology, or other related science degree. Engineering degree is preferred. + Minimum of 2 years of proven experience or a combination of equivalent education and experience. + Knowledge in using three-dimensional CAD or voxel-based / point cloud software packages. Volume Graphics and/or Geomagic software is preferred. + Proven track record to work successfully in teams and individual situations. + Effective verbal and written communication skills, along with collaborative problem-solving skills. + Experience with dimensional measurements. GD&T experience is preferred. + Industrial CT and 3D Optical Scanning experience is preferred. + Any experience in coding, software development, or data science is highly valued. + Medical industry experience is preferred. + Experience working with injection molded products and related processes is a plus. **ACCOUNTABILITY:** + Thorough, accurate, and timely completion of assigned responsibilities. + Alignment to all BD policies and procedures as well as any laws where applicable. + Effective written and verbal communication with management, project teams, and multifunctional personnel on a timely basis. + Work independently to identify actions needed to complete assignments and demonstrate strong drive for results. + Manage assignments in accordance with project prioritization. **SUPERVISION:** + In a job requisition, "supervision" refers to the person or level within the organization that the new hire will directly report to, essentially indicating who will be their manager or immediate supervisor for the position being filled; it outlines the reporting structure within the company for the role.
