Uses visual inspection and sophisticated diagnostic equipment to inspect the systems of the movable bridges in order to assure the safe operation of the bridges. 25% Prepares plans, specifications, cost estimates and bid documents for major electrical or mechanical repairs to facilities and structures statewide. Inspects and approves contracted and in-house electrical or mechanical maintenance projects statewide. Assists in the management of all audits done in-house and by consultants. 20% Assists the statewide Electrical or Mechanical Engineer regarding electrical or mechanical maintenance to all nine Districts and DOTD agencies. Also acts as maintenance consultant to Headquarters Administrators. Represents DOTD in matters dealing with other state agencies and Federal Highway Administration. 20% Participates in electrical or mechanical engineering programs statewide, establishes systematic prioritized preventive maintenance for DOTD facilities statewide, directs electrical or mechanical analysis and inspection including consultant examination and analysis.
