CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking an Engineer IV to join our Power & Manufacturing – Gas Team at our Colonie, NY, Syracuse, NY or, Norwell, MA location.
YOUR IMPACTCHA has a long track record of delivering safe, cost-efficient, and reliable designs for gas transmission pipelines, custody transfer stations, distribution mains, regulator stations, and customer connections. Our team can also certify plans and help gas utilities navigate the process of bringing infrastructure projects into regulatory compliance and enhance quality control.
At CHA, our Engineer IV provides advanced judgment and analysis techniques for the design development, implementation, and technical analysis of various systems to implement new products, or changes to an existing scheme, to suit individual client needs. This key role is responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating detailed phases of a project independently with other engineering disciplines and project management staff. The Engineer IV mentors junior staff members and provides technical review of their work as needed.
The Engineer IV recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures as well as selects proper procedures to self-check his/her own work for completeness and accuracy in technical reports and calculations. The professional in this role identifies, develops, and gathers technical resources necessary to complete assignments. This individual also continuously monitors the progress and performance of the engineering design development against the project work plan.

REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s Degree in Mechnical Engineering requiredProfessional Engineer (PE) license requiredMinimum of 4 years of discipline specific engineering experience requiredExperience with Natural Gas Piping or Process PipingThorough knowledge of 49 CFR part 192 and referenced codes such as but not limited to: ASME BPVC, B31 piping codes and related.Experience in sizing and selection of pressure regulation, over pressure devices, heat exchangers, vessel, heaters, meters, and piping components3D modeling skill such as Plant 3D in the AutoCAD and the ability to interface with designers in the 3D environment.Ability to oversee integration of muti-discipline models and CADD coordination to generate drawing sets.Experience with Caesar II piping stress analysis as applied to B31.8, B31.3, or B31.1 piping.Hydronic system design and the selection and specification of pumps, boilers, control valves, pipe sizing, and associated safety systems.Ability to defend and present designs in a process hazard analysis, PHA, or similar hazard analysis environment.Demonstrates a strong knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with the proven ability to practically apply engineering best practicesAdvanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)Familiar with QA/QC procedures and understands basic business practices and laws related to engineeringAbility to demonstrate leadership skills and effectively work in a collaborative environmentEffective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences Proficiency with MS Office software requiredAn active role in a professional engineering society/organization preferred. SALARY RANGE:$95,000 - $111,000
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
