ENGINEER IV – MAINTENANCE PROCESS
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ENGINEER IV - MAINTENANCE
Under limited direction, develops and modifies process formulations, methods and controls to meet quality standards.Recommends and implements improvements, modifications or additions which will document work; tests and solves problems.Reviews product requirements with product development compatibility of processing methods to determine costs and schedules.May review proposals of outside vendors regarding the purchase of new or modernization of existing production/processing equipment. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.REQUIRED FOR THE ENGINEER IV - MAINTENANCE
Four-year college degree in an Engineering discipline preferred. Eight or more years of experience in an engineering role or engineering support position. Interprets internal/external business issues and recommends best practices in own function. Has developed depth and breadth of expertise in own function.Effectively manages projects or teams, including coordination of resources outside of own area. Forecasts and plans resource requirements for projects or teams.Monitors and controls costs for own work and may manage costs/budgets for large projects or areas.Advanced knowledge of the existing manufacturing systems including the computer systems, steel making processes, material flow and handling schemes, quality systems and process control techniques.Practical understanding of engineering principles standards, methods and practices.Knowledge of disciplined problem-solving methods.Ability to troubleshoot/remedy a wide range of drive and PLC units including but not limited to PLC2, PLC5, Compact Logix, ABB DCS 880, Siemens, AVEVA HMIs, etc. – from ladder logic/function block level to I/O wiring feedback via Fluke.Able to navigate/update simple new controls systems independently and work with OEMs & third party vendors to commission more complex systems.Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.Anticipates customer needs; assesses requirements and identifies new solutions.Leads others to resolve complex problems in non-standard situations and develop creative solutions.Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.Ability to conceptually develop and manage large assignments including responsibility for the appropriate standards and procedures.Ability to direct and supervise others.Ability to operate a computer workstation.Ability to work in a production oriented environment.Ability to train and develop others.Ability to work under frequently changing priorities and deadlines.Verbal and written communication skills.Design skills.Problem solving skills.Project management skills.Carpenter Technology Company offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package including life, medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, disability coverage, 401k with company contributions as well as many other options to employees.
