Job Description:
Overview
This position is responsible for providing advanced technical support in the development and design of road and highway projects.
Responsibilities
Assist a Project Manager in the development and design of road and highway projects to include plans, specifications, and estimates
Consult with Project Manager in the review of detailed plans, specifications, and estimate of cost to ensure conformity with the project scope and design standards
Develop feasible design alternatives and compare significant parameters such as typical sections, horizontal and vertical alignments, right-of-way requirements and cost
Identify and analyze the principle design features and major design alternatives that satisfy a project’s purpose and need
Review design details, and coordinate technical recommendations, assess the cost-effective conductibility of the project and generally evaluate the project
Produce detailed, final design plans, specifications and estimates in accordance with AASHTO, FHWA, TXDOT
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in civil or agricultural engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
4 years' multi-discipline experience in roadway design and PS&E
Familiar with engineering principles, techniques, and procedures
Working knowledge of Microstation - Effective communications skills; both oral and written
Ability to interact professionally with clients and all level of employees within an organization
Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with occasional overtime as needed
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently
Preferred Qualifications
Registered as a Licensed Engineer In Training (E.I.T.)
