ASRC Federal System Solutions supports the FAA NAS ESS (Federal Aviation Administration National Airspace System Engineering Support Services) contract.  Join our growing team as an Engineer Level 2 in support of the FAA’s Terminal Surveillance team.  The FAA Terminal Surveillance Team provides support for two types of the FAA’s Terminal Surveillance RADAR systems (ASR-8 & ASR-11). National Airway Systems Engineering Group engineers serve as nationally recognized subject matter experts (SMEs) in support of assigned National Airspace System (NAS) facilities, systems, and equipment. The National Airway Systems Engineering Group has a unique organizational responsibility to formally issue changes to operational NAS systems through problem analysis, design, and implementation of hardware, software, adaptation, and technical documentation modifications. These changes result in correction of design flaws, reduction in logistics costs and field workload, new or expanded capabilities, and/or major life extension redesign.

 

Typical assignments may include, but are not limited to:

Problem identification Problem analysis Solution determination Resource identification Cost estimation Solution design Development Integration Testing Writing technical/management reports Creation, review, and maintenance of technical support documentation and associated directives Providing direct support in response to NAS related problems beyond the assigned repair capability of field personnel Recommending improvements to the design or operation of systems, equipment, or processes Providing SME technical support for new system acquisition efforts. 

Responsibilities:

Performs a mixture of routine, multiple, and varying assignments under the limited direction of a Technical Manager or more experienced engineer. Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team. May perform some leadership functions for small projects/programs/teams. Applies experience and detailed knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and concepts to plan and accomplish assignments. Demonstrates some independence in planning time and using assigned resources to accomplish assignments and small projects. Works with other employees, both contract and federal, to share information, provide data and/or written analyses, and/or discuss the status of assignments. Typically receives guidance on selecting approach from a Technical Manager or more experienced engineer. May provide recommendations to improve work processes. Frequently refers difficult problems and work issues to a Technical Manager or more experienced engineer when guidelines are not available or applicable. Work is reviewed periodically during assignments and at completion to ensure timeliness and technical compliance with the requirements of the project or other work activity. Work activities may affect project/program objectives of external organizations. In some areas, the work may affect the safety and security of customers.
