**Job Description:**
The Resource Planning Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the long-term reliability and cost-effectiveness of Tri-State's power supply. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining production cost models, analyzing power supply alternatives, and supporting the optimization of Tri-State's resource mix.
**Note** : There is one position available, and this position will be filled at one of four job grade levels: Engineer Resource Planning I; job grade 7; Engineer Resource Planning II, job grade 8; Engineer Resource Planning III; job grade 9 or Senior Engineer Resource Planning, job grade 10. This decision will be based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate and Tri-State business needs at the time of hire.

**Senior Engineer Resource Planning**
Hiring Salary Range: $106,000-$148,000
**Engineer Resource Planning III**
Hiring Salary Range: $96,100-$133,000
**Engineer Resource Planning II**
Hiring Salary Range: $86,000-$118,000
**Engineer Resource Planning I**
Hiring Salary Range: $77,000-$105,000
Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring salary range based upon work experience, education and/or skill level.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Develop, maintain, and execute production cost models of Tri-State's power resources, including future resource options.
+ Maintain and enhance Tri-State's operational and financial generation data for use in optimization tools.
+ Conduct production cost modeling in support of Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) and Electric Resource Planning (ERP) processes.
+ Analyze power supply alternatives and recommend the optimal resource mix for Tri-State.
+ Provide technical support for short-term and intermediate-term operating plans.
+ Develop long-range load and resource plans.
+ Develop and maintain tools and methods to effectively summarize key modeling results.
+ Conduct economic analyses and prepare reports and recommendations.
+ Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of load and resource optimization tools.
+ Represent Tri-State on technical committees as assigned.
+ Contribute to the development of the annual budget and long-term financial forecast.
+ Perform special studies, analyses, and cost estimates.
+ Adhere to and demonstrate compliance with all applicable regulations, laws, standards, and best practices, including NERC Reliability Standards and Safety.
+ Comply with all aspects of Corporate Policy C-54, Compliance.
+ Demonstrate behavior consistent with Tri-State's culture, values, and ethical standards.
+ Ensure the reliable and continuous delivery of electric service to Tri-State's customers.
+ Ability to work overtime as required to support operational needs.
+ Because Tri-State is an electric utility with continuous service obligations to its customers, regular, reliable, and predictable performance of the essential functions and responsibilities is an essential function of the job.
+ Because Tri-State has an obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to its customers, the ability to work overtime at any time of the day or week is considered an essential function of the job.

**Qualifications:**
Education and Training
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related engineering or technology discipline, business/economics degree or MBA.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
+ Expertise in production cost modeling and power systems analysis. General knowledge of government regulations affecting electric utilities.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software.
+ Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience:
+ Eight (8) years of progressive experience in electric utility planning, operations or other directly related experience. **Note:** The above requirements describe the experience and education qualifications for the Senior Engineer Resource Planning. Those with less experience will be hired at the I, II or III job grade level.
Other:
+ Must be able to demonstrate that he/she can perform all of the essential functions of the position.
+ Willingness to travel when needed to attend training, conferences and meetings. (Must have a valid driver’s license).
**DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Project management experience including planning, scheduling and monitoring activities, desired.
+ Energy industry experience preferred.
