Due to the unique engineering skills of our team, we are able to plan and execute marine and land cable installation projects anywhere in the world. We are able to overcome environmental constraints and client requirements with our unique engineering expertise. This time our team is expanding, so we are looking for a new colleague.
Getting a flying start
To succeed as an Engineer you need experience in the energy, maritime, offshore, oil & gas, marine, infrastructure or construction fields. You have experience in geospatial data management, data conversion and construction. You will design the cable routes and build the documentation, administrate, and maintain geodatabases and mosaic datasets. Using ArcGIS Enterprise, you will create and maintain web map applications. You have experience of supporting projects with geographic information from public and company sources. You will act as a GIS expert in projects and introduce GIS training/support in the Installation department.
Your starting point when you join
· BSc or MSc degree in the area of GIS, Geography, Geomatics, IT, Geospatial, Earth Science
· 1 to 2 years of relevant Survey and GIS experience.
· As you will work with Esri software (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro and Extensions, ArcGIS Online / ArcGIS Portal) daily, fluency in usage is mandatory.
· In this role the likelihood of succeeding will increase if you have an interest and knowledge of geospatial presentation and data management.
· Our fast-paced environment allows us to meet short deadlines and work at high speed.
· Nexans works in teams based on project execution, so being self-driven and being able to take charge of one's own tasks are of the utmost importance.
· Fluent in English – oral and written. Norwegian is a plus.
· You are interested to gain knowledge of Python or other scripting languages.
· You have worked on other software packages like FME, QGIS, Surfer, Open Layers, Global Mapper, Eiva Navimodel, and AutoCAD .
· You have experience of offshore surveys and have a knowledge of geophysical survey data.

Responsibilities
· Manage technical specifications, operational procedures, calculations, procurement plan inputs, design modifications, protection performance evaluations, cable route evaluations, document reviews, and as-built documentation.
· Engage in necessary project roles within your area of expertise.
· Handle engineering and procurement tasks, establish and resolve interface requirements, follow up on subcontracted work (e.g., surveys, ROV, vessel services), supervise offshore activities, and attend progress and client meetings.
· HSE and Quality: Ensure project-specific and corporate HSE and quality requirements are met, conduct safe job analyses, HAZOPS, and FMEAs.
Department/Company Work:
· Development: Create tools, checklists, and document templates.
· Policies: Adhere to company policies and procedures.
· HSE: Take personal responsibility for HSE, maintain zero tolerance for poor standards, and act as an HSE role model.
· Training: Train new personnel.
· Other Tasks: Participate in tender work, research and development of new technologies, and investment projects.
