The Team Lead is the people manager for technical staff with a speciality in roadway and transportation design. They are responsible for staff work assignments, career growth and day to day management of staff. In addition, they are still looked to for leading designs, breaking off work on projects, doing QAQC as well as helping with proposals for new work. This position is a dual role requiring a specific personality and the desire to help staff achieve goals. The Team Lead will work across several project managers to properly staff projects and maintain a healthy work environment. The role is very collaborative working between other transportation disciplines as well as across non-transportation disciplines. A successful Team Lead is able to balance being a transportation engineer with being a people manager and looks for both facets to grow and excel.
Responsibilities Responsible for staff growth, goal setting, reviews and day to day management.Hire new staff as needed to Team.Work with project managers to ensure projects are staffed correctly.Work with project managers on proposals, scopes and fees.Lead design of complex roadway and transportation projects that require creative solutions. Projects include roadway, bikeways, pedestrian facilities, roundabouts, trails, multi-modal transportation or transportation planning. Direct engineering design tasks such as highway and street design, roadway alignments, roundabout design, roadway grading and modeling, curb ramp design, signing and pavement plan, maintenance of traffic, storm drainage. Use local and federal roadway standards to prepare preliminary and final design documents, cost estimates, and bid documents. Perform detailed review of design plans and supporting documents. Qualifications BS in Civil Engineering or related technical design field. A minimum of 10+ years of professional experience preferred. Must be a licensed PEMust work near an office that staff are located in (Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, Cleveland).Prior people management experience is a plus.Must be a leader and have the ability to lead a team consisting of a variety of experience levels and backgrouns.Ability to work across disciplines to ensure project staffing or project completion. If licensed in another state, the ability to obtain a license in Ohio. Ability to lead design as well as allocate work to others.Experience in Roadway, Highway, Trail, Bikeway/Pedestrian and/or Roadway Drainage design. Expertise in Civil 3D and/or MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
Pay Range:
Starting $120k+ with signing bonus
