GENERAL PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support and documentation for the creation, modification and maintenance of nonstandard products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Be able to create and modify bills of material in the HMI Operating System.Must know implications of modifying bill of material structure.Be able to design and modify parts to meet customer need within the material specifications of the part/product.Be able to function in PC based computer systems.Be able to read and understand routings.Be able to read, create and modify drawings to support the products requested by the customer.Be able to understand BOM codes such as inventory codes, P/C codes, unit of measure, etc.Have a high degree of HMI product knowledge.Must be able to make decisions based on sound engineering principles.Must be able to work cross functionally with people from Purchasing, Manufacturing, Applications, CAD, and Order Administration.Must be detail orientated to insure accuracy of information delivered.Perform in a team environment to insure all work is completed 100% on time.Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Additional Essential Functions

Support all facets of application room technical needs, improvements, and operations.Support engineering needs for continuous improvement of the coatings value stream.Guide application room staff in all facets of technical improvements including NCMs, maintenance, cost reductions.Shepherd hands-on experiments and document test methods and results.Work with powder application processes and equipment.Design hooks for optimum quality and density.Design/Review hooks for optimum quality and density. Work with engineering team to design and review hook changes.Be able to learn and manage robot control systems for application.Solve problems and product issues.Develop a working knowledge and understanding of the washers, both the chemistry and equipment including ability to perform titrations, pH checks, understand what to look for and how to adjust.Be able to back up the washer tech.Perform testing and documentation on powder including transfer efficiency.Be able to function in PC based computer systems.Performs physical and technical tasks including measuring, calibrating, testing, documenting. Utilizes skill and experience to adapt procedures to meet special needs.Assist in the training of operators as needed.Complete ergonomic and safety improvements in assigned areas.Assists in CAD drawing of blueprints on equipment.Maintains records and files of all completed engineering work.Runs tests on products and equipment to ensure they function properly.Analyzes system or product performance.Provides suggestions for ways to improve products and equipment.Addresses and resolves glitches and problems with equipment.Assists with regular maintenance on products and equipment.Orders and replaces unique equipment parts.Answers employee questions about the function and maintenance of products and equipment.Provides technical support to Operations.Ensures that all safety procedures are observed.

Skills and Abilities

2-4 years of experience in an engineering environment or as Engineering Tech 1Experience with PC based computer systems and familiarity with standard programs such as EXCEL and WORD.Able to apply basic engineering procedures and practicesAble to work to deadlines and completions.Able to manage own workload and be self motivated.Team player skillsMechanical aptitude to deal with developing solutions to customer requests.Works under direct supervision

Additional Skills and Abilities

Hands-on and have a mechanical aptitude.Good people skills to lead staff that don’t directly report to you.Robot experience.Excel spreadsheets and ability to interpret data.Creating process instructions and documentation.Good observational skills, ability to follow defined procedures, and attention to detail are required to ensure tests are done properly.Ability to evaluate data to identify possible inconsistencies that may indicate retesting is required.Willingness to ask questions and seek help if needed.Maximo experience helpful.2+ years of previous conveyorized Paint or Powder Coating experience.Strong attention to detail.Exhibits strong organizational skills.Communicates clearly and effectively.Demonstrates intellectual curiosity.
