Engineer V or Project Engineering Manager (DOE)

Our team is looking for either an Engineer V or a Project Engineering Manager, depending on experience. Candidate must reside in Boise, ID unless level of experience qualifies for remote work, which will be up to the discretion of Boise Cascade. Travel required. 

Responsibilities:

Engineer V

The Engineer V is responsible for the design, cost estimation, and planning of projects pertaining to wood products manufacturing lines including the correct interpretation and implementation of engineering analysis, Boise Cascade design standards, and applicable industry codes and standards. They act as a Project Engineer and support the Project Manager by providing appropriate designs, calculations, technology comparisons, design and construction specs, cost estimates, machinery and construction RFP’s and contracts, requisitions, quality assurance requirements, and installation and outage schedules. This engineer will support construction and startup efforts at the mill and will autonomously lead and manage subsets of projects within the overall large-scale project. They act independently on technical engineering matters and supply technical and supervisory expertise for capital projects. Travel required.

Compensation Range: $84,700 - $164,500 (DOE)

Project Engineering Manager (in addition to the responsibilities of an Engineer V)

The Project Engineering Manager must autonomously manage all aspects of large capital projects from feasibility study through detail design, procurement, construction, start-up, post startup optimization, and resolution of component failures.  They are responsible for developing, planning, and managing, the scope, budget, schedule, and execution of capital projects associated with wood products manufacturing ranging to $50 mm.  They will define roles and responsibilities, and direct and lead project team members, contractors and consultants.

Compensation Range: $124,500 - $231,300 (DOE)

 

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Engineer V

Professional Engineer (PE) License or portfolio of relevant experience required. B.S. in Engineering discipline with Mechanical preferred Requires engineering analytical ability to evaluate structural, electrical, machine, thermal, and fluid designs, in addition to PLC machinery sequencing. Proficient using AutoCAD, 3D solid modeling software (SolidWorks, Inventor), MS Office Suite, MS Project. Proficient reading and interpreting drawings, and confirming that field construction efforts comply with design documents. Requires knowledge of applicable governmental, industry and insurance laws, codes and standards. Requires a minimum of 8-10 years experience in the Wood Products or related industry. May require professional certification and/or advanced degree.

Additional requirements for the Project Engineering Manager:

Professional Engineer (PE) License required. Seven (7) years or more progressive experience in the wood products or related industry managing the full spectrum of capital projects. Three (3) capital projects exceeding $15 mm each as the Project Engineering Manager, autonomously leading, managing, and executing the project from concept thru startup, including resolution of trailing performance and reliability issues. Requires advanced level of understanding in project management systems and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

M.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified preferred.
