We are currently looking for an Engineering and Design Manager to join our team in the West Lafayette, IN area. The Engineering and Design Manager will be responsible as the Owner’s representative for leading, planning, coordinating, and overseeing the professional engineering team's work product as developed by the project’s Engineer of Record. The project is a complex and sophisticated semi-conductor fabrication facility. Knowledge of codes and standards associated with semi-conductor fabrication is required, including (because of the greenfield nature of the work) site services such as natural gas, potable and industrial water, electrical distribution, storm/ industrial/ and foul waste, streets, and other public works. As the primary liaison between the Owner, Engineer of Record, and governmental agencies, knowledge of local codes and CHIPs (and/ or grant management) related design packaging and content requirements is necessary.
Ultimately this position will be involved with the stakeholders and ensure the engineering packages are delivered to the standard of care, on-time, and within the approved budget.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage the planning, scheduling, and coordination of project engineering work.Schedule and coordinate design reviews with stakeholdersEnsure codes, ordinances, guidelines, standards, and other laws are included in the engineering product (drawings, specs, etc.)Recommend and track the design packing plan that is created to enable on-time permitting and construction.As necessary, lead all value engineering efforts to bring the scope in line with the budget or schedule.Assess and monitor the workload and productivity of the engineering team, ensuring the content is being developed at an appropriately productive rate for on time delivery of the Issued for Permit, Issued for Procurement, and Issued for Construction packages.Recommend course corrections for areas that need improvement.Collaborate with Virtual Design and Construction, and, Off-Site Manufacturing teams to ensure all engineering and design content melds into one constructible plan.Participate in the established local neighborhood and labor concerns portal and maintain open lines of communication providing project updates regarding the design of the plant and appropriate mitigating impacts to the community.Keeping the Owner, and Cumming Group team informed and provide coaching to team, so all stay aligned to the common goals.Prepare and present weekly status reports, including identification of potential future risks.As a member of the construction core team (key personnel) interface as the primary single point of contract directly with clients / owners.Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in engineering or a closely related field.10 years' minimum experience as the Engineering/Design Manager for large semi-conductor project(s).#LI-EG1
