Engineering CAD Technician

Engineering CAD Technicians support Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Operations. Engineering CAD technicians work closely with other Engineers and Program Managers to ensure Wilcox stays on the leading edge of technology and innovation while ensuring the team is delivering a product that our customer can trust his/her life with.
Roles & Responsibilities
+ Prepares component and system level 3D CAD-based models and drawings based on design inputs from requirements and engineering direction.
+ Generates and documents Bill of Materials for assemblies.
+ Assists in the preparation of prototypes and models for mechanical systems and components.
+ Supports 3D printing efforts for engineering prototypes, parts and tooling.
+ Works with other engineering disciplines to integrate mechanical designs into multi-disciplinary systems.
+ Helps identify potential design problems and works with engineering to determine possible solutions.
+ Conducts hands-on testing in laboratory or field settings to evaluate the performance, durability, and functionality of mechanical systems.
+ Maintains organized records of design changes and/or testing results for future reference and traceability.
+ Supports other related documentation requests.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience:
+ 2+ years of 3D CAD experience.
Required Skills/Abilities:
+ Proficient in the use of SolidWorks to create parts, assemblies and drawings.
+ Ability to work with other engineering disciplines to create requested CAD models.
+ Hands-on experience with prototype fabrication and testing.
+ Strong organization skills and ability to work in a high paced project environment.
+ Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality work.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
+ Associates degree in Technical Drawing or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
+ 3D CAD certification, especially in SolidWorks software.
+ 5+ years of 3D CAD experience.
+ Understanding of GD&T.
+ Problem solving and analytical skills.
+ Understanding of product development process from concept to finalized designs .
Physical Requirements:
+ Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally, for handling parts and prototypes.
+ Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
+ Ability to perform physical tests and handle tools/equipment used for prototyping.
+ Regular on-site attendance is a necessary function of this position.
