Summary

This position will collaborate with the Engineering and Maintenance Teams and provide improvement and troubleshooting of all electrical/electronic systems, such as programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and other drives/controls fixing to support the manufacturing site. Responsibilities include creating electrical drawings, programing PLCs, wiring electrical devices, and providing manufacturing support to resolve production and quality issues that arise on a day-to-day basis by performing effective root cause problem solving to solve process issues associated with equipment and/or machine performance.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Identify safety issues, support safety initiatives, and recommend and implement effective solutions.Create and update electrical schematics and drawings.Perform a wide range of tasks related to the repair, installation, troubleshooting, and design of machine control systems.Develop and maintain drive, controls, and MES/SCADA system standard methodologies through collaboration with other process technology teams.Provide project support to process engineers on all subjects electrical and controls related.Solve electrical malfunctions, inspects circuits and wiring for shielding and grounding, and tests electrical equipment for safety and efficiency.Work from schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system or equipment.Collaborate with the Maintenance and Engineering teams to ensure equipment reliability.Provides support for technology upgrade projects to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.Conduct training of employees for accurate machine adjustments and operationsMaintain and assist with compliance of PSM (Process Safety Management) program.Ensure all applicable electrical systems are compliant with Hazardous rated areas.Maintain a program of professional growth through selected seminars, courses, trade magazines, books, journals, etc.Perform any other duties in support of operations as assigned

Education and experience

Pursuing a degree in engineering or related degree required Experience working with industrial electronics and/or machine control systems including PLCs highly preferredBackground/knowledge of mechanical systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, motor drives, etc.) is desirable

Technical Competencies

Knowledge and understanding of simple circuitsHands on abilities with basic tools and wiringExcellent verbal and written communication skills among all levels of the organizationExperience in troubleshooting electrical issuesAbility to understand and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic, Function Block Programming and Sequential Text Programming and make system edits as needed.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The typical work environment is a standard office setting / office contained in a foundry or manufacturing setting.  The employee is occasionally required to perform work in a foundry environment with occasional exposure to work near moving mechanical parts / work in high temperatures / risk of electrical shock; the typical noise level is moderate noise.
