We have a near-term need for an Engineering Controls Certification Specialist (Hazardous Work Protection - Hood Certifier) to provide onsite support in Aberdeen, MD.
ResponsibilitiesThe Engineering Controls Certification Specialist (Hazardous Work Protection - Hood Certifier) will be responsible for evaluating and certifying engineering controls, primarily focusing on the effectiveness of ventilation systems such as fume hoods and biosafety cabinets in controlling exposure to hazardous substances. This includes conducting thorough assessments to determine compliance with safety regulations and industry standards established by organizations like OSHA and NIOSH. The Specialist will perform various testing procedures to validate airflow performance and filter effectiveness while documenting findings in detailed reports that include certifications and recommendations. Will provide training and guidance to facility personnel on the proper operation and maintenance of these engineering controls, emphasizing the importance of adherence to safe practices. The Specialist will also collaborate with maintenance teams to coordinate routine inspections and repairs of the engineering control systems, ensuring they remain compliant and functional. Will participate in risk assessments to identify potential hazards related to processes utilizing these controls and recommend necessary improvements or upgrades.
