Engineering Controls Manager

Our Systems Engineering team is looking for an experienced Engineering Controls Manager who will serve as a senior level member of FLANDERS' Engineering management team and hold responsibility for managing a team of control system engineers. This position will be tasked to drive and participate in technical strategy, innovation, product delivery and continuous improvement. This selected candidate must possess a range of technical and leadership skills as well as business acumen. 

This position will be based Indianapolis!

Essential Functions:

Frequently communicate and interface with customers' engineering teams to discuss FLANDERS engineering capabilities, customer applications/requirements, and coordinate project activities.Possess a broad knowledge of controls, power conversion, and their application to the industries, equipment, and customers that FLANDERS serves.Demonstrate strong project management independently, or in cooperation with others, to diligently collect information to form cost estimates, labor estimates, contingency plans, materials and supply chain lead times, prioritization, and resource availability.Demonstrate proficiency at collecting voice of the customer and translating the information into actionable plans and results.Stay up to date on current technologies in the industry as well as emerging technologies and trends.Research and conduct competitive analysis, including pricing and product, of key competitors and customers.Assist in overall product strategies and product roadmaps.Own and develop product requirements/functional specification by working with customers, field engineering, sales, and other associated product stakeholders.Demonstrate excellent skills in problem solving and project management.Develop and maintain engineering processes and standards.Prioritize respective engineering group's project and manage category pipeline.Actively assist in promoting FLANDERS and FLANDERS Engineering and selling to customers, partners, and others.Play a critical role in defining the overall product and growth strategy, by partnering with Business Development and Product Development.Coordinate and execute new product introductions with other functional departments through Stage Gate Process and/or FLANDERS commercialization process.Demonstrate proficiency in planning and managing departmental budgets and projects costs.Execute work in effective and efficient ways to best serve customers and attain Corporate goals.Education & Experience Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Power, Software, Physics or Computer Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience Master’s of Science or Business Administration is preferred >10 years of engineering experience >15 years of industry and related experience 10 years of experience in electric machines, drives, controls and/or systems Additional Requirements Extensive and up to date knowledge in drives, controls and/or rotating electric machines Knowledge and experience in industrial and/or machine control theory Experience with mining machine systems applications including but not limited to electric mining shovels, draglines, haul trucks, rotary blast hole drills, and hydraulic excavators Demonstrated experience in managing the product lifecycle of systems and products Demonstrated success with the ability to identify key customer requirements and translate them into detailed product specifications for multi-generational products Direct experience in formulating, producing, and implementing product roadmaps Good business acumen and ability to cascade business goals to engineering objectives Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation and demonstration skills to diverse technical and non-technical audiences Strong interpersonal skills working with technical team and senior leaders Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask while coordinating multiple high level priorities Leverageable experience with engineering tools and systems, including simulators, modeling, virtual prototyping and statistical analysis Good ability to work with business ERP system Strong knowledge of personal computers including Microsoft Office software Ability to promote a positive company image to customers at all times Ability to read, write, and comprehend complex written and verbal instructions Ability to understand, perform, and retain various job related training, operational, and safety procedures Must have ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to non-routine duties Anticipates preventable problems before they occur Overnight travel including international required
