Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR, Position Description Number D0131000 and is part of the KS 184 Intelligence Wing, McConnell, KS, Kansas National Guard. Responsibilities As an Engineering Equipment Operator, WG-5716-08, you will perform duties related to operation of gasoline or diesel powered engineering and construction equipment. This position is temporary in nature and is filled periodically in those situations where the state is tasked with special projects. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: E1through E-5 Compatible Military Assignments: 3E251 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training operating heavy engineer equipment and performing operator maintenance on equipment such as bulldozers, angle dozers, front-end loaders, and other similar type equipment. Experience or training in operating one or more types of heavy engineer equipment in close proximities and on various types of terrain. Experience assisting lower graded operators in complex operation or maintenance of equipment. Physical Effort: Heavy physical effort is used by the operator in constantly reaching, bending, turning and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment and the jerking a d jolting from operating over rough surfaces. Because of the location of some of the controls and attachments, the operator is frequently required to work in awkward or strained positions. Work Conditions: Work is performed in all types of weather, often in an open driver's seat or platform, on hills, slopes, grades, rolling surfaces, and forests. The operator is exposed to injury due to the possibility of the equipment overturning. Subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust.
