We have a manufacturing facility in Wheeling, IL. **_SUMMARY OF PRIMARY FUNCTION_** We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the development of hardware testing capabilities and validate next-generation testing software on custom-built test fixtures. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to work at the intersection of mechanical design, testing automation, and product validation, contributing to the reliability and performance of our cutting-edge products. **_WHAT YOU’LL GAIN:_** + Hands-on experience in mechanical hardware validation and testing automation. + Exposure to cross-functional collaboration between mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams. + Opportunity to contribute to next-generation testing methodologies and process improvements. + Mentorship from industry experts and practical learning in a high-impact engineering environment. **_SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES_** 1. Development of Hardware Testing Capabilities + Design and build mechanical test fixtures to evaluate product performance, durability, and reliability. + Integrate sensors, actuators, and data acquisition systems into test setups. + Conduct mechanical stress, endurance, and environmental tests on hardware components. + Assist in the development of automated test systems for repeatable and high-accuracy testing. 2. Validation of Next-Generation Testing Software + Work closely with software engineers to validate new test automation tools on mechanical test fixtures. + Debug and troubleshoot mechanical-electrical integration issues between hardware and software. + Analyze test data to ensure consistency, accuracy, and correlation with expected results. + Document test procedures and provide feedback to improve test software usability and performance. 3. Data Analysis & Reporting + Collect, process, and interpret experimental data to validate system performance. + Present findings in technical reports and engineering reviews. + Identify failure modes and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions. **KEY COMPETENCIES:** + **Project Management:** Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, balance, and manage deliverables for multiple marketing projects to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work. + **Communication:** Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills + **Analytical & Solution Driven:** Good analytical and problem-solving skills + **Attention to detail and quality:** Keen eye for detail and creative finesse + **Analytical Thinking:** Proficiency in analyzing data and deriving insights + **Individual & Team Player:** Ability to work independently and collaboratively **_SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS_** + Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. + Basic understanding of mechanical testing principles, including force, stress, strain, and vibration. + Hands-on experience with CAD software (SolidWorks) for designing fixtures. + Familiarity with instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition for mechanical testing. + Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a hands-on testing environment. + Excellent documentation and communication skills for reporting findings. + Experience with automated testing or mechanical-electrical system integration. + Familiarity with programming languages (Python, LabVIEW, or MATLAB) for test automation. + Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) or motion simulation. + Exposure to reliability testing methods (HALT, fatigue testing, environmental stress testing, etc.).
