Role Summary Internship Term: Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2027. The role will focus on improving Rivian electrochemical model and its application to optimize cell design. The role will explore model improvement opportunity and develop proof of concept for model-based cell design optimization. This work will provide Rivian efficient framework to guide better cell design and decision-making to meet performance target at minimal cost for new programs. Responsibilities Cell electrochemical (P2D) model improvement (model fidelity, speed up, integration) Cell electrochemical (P2D) model parameter optimization and automation Cell electrochemical (P2D) model parameter sensitivity analysis and automation Cell model integration improvement (P2D + Battery model) Cell model-based design optimization framework Qualifications Must be currently pursuing a masters or PhD degree in Li-ion battery related research at an accredited university Battery systems knowledge: in-depth understanding of battery chemistries, electrochemical principles, and battery performance Modeling and simulation: experience in developing and validating models for electrochemical, thermal behavior of batteries Hands-on experience with modeling tools such as Matlab/Simulink, COMSOL Proficient in Matlab and python #LI-SA5 Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law.
